Boating Adventure-Day 1

Yesterday was our first family boating adventure.  We waited until the afternoon so that the weather could warm up.  Boating is a lot of work and I have so much to learn.  We took the boat from one end of Allatoona Lake to the other end.  We stopped and had a late lunch on a restaurant on the lake.  As we were making our way back to our dock, we hit a sandbar and were stuck in the middle of the lake.  As Todd tried to set us free I screamed several times.  I really am not a boat person and bad luck seems to follow me every time I get on a boat.  Todd is now going to get the prop fixed and we are going to try our luck again today.  Wish us luck:o)

  2. We had a boat too. It was a great way to have a fun day of family time. I got tired of it sooner than my husband did. He wanted every single vacation to be spent on boating day trips from our home. I wanted to see more of the world. I like mountains as much as water.

  3. Boating is a lot of work but I'm sure it will get easier when you get a routine down. I'm sorry you guys hit the sandbar. Do you have a map of the lake? I hope your next outing ends better!

  4. Love the picture of the bent propeller. Maybe you can get your husband a depth finder for fathers day! I look forward to hearing about more of your adventures. Were you wearing a PFD?

  7. Boats are a great way to spend family vacations, especially once everyone learns the routine. I personally love the water, whether I am on it or in it or near it. We had a boat and really enjoyed our time on the lake. Please remember your sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses as well as your lifevest.
Your daughter is so cute, and it looks like she will have a great time boating with the family. At that age everything is an adventure and fear is not in their vocabulary.
Like any new venture, there are bound to be a few glitches. Getting stuck on a sand bar is unfortunate, but now you have a humerous story to tell your friends and family.

  8. We definately had a great weather weekend for boating the weekend of March 19th. The lake levels are high and there was plenty of sunshine on Saturday. The photo journal looks great.

  9. This is something my kids want us to have as well. Unfortunately here in New England we are still dealing with 32 degree weather. They keep asking when we are going to go camping. Sadly enough we do live in a bay area that adjoins to Portsmouth NH along the Atlantic so owning a boat would be ideal...now we just need to figure it out! Love the pictures.
