First Fishing Adventure

Today was Claire and Thomas's first time fishing.  We didn't catch any fish, but had fun trying!  Claire dropped her fishing pole into the lake and Thomas really didn't understand what he was doing.  Todd is going to take Claire for her own lesson without Thomas tomorrow.  Maybe by this summer Thomas will understand what he is doing.  We have a lake in our neighborhood and we may need to start practicing there.  We did see several turtles on logs laying in the sun.  I tried to take a picture, but we were too far away.  Hopefully next time we will have a picture of our first fish:o)

  2. I think that not having caught a fish the first time out is a good thing. There are no fishy smells, hooks to remove and stories about the one that got away. Fish or not...they all look like they are still having a great time.

  3. Kids like "yucky", but who baited the hook and did you use bait or artificial? The kids might have been tempted by the bright colors and marshmallow appearance of artificial bait. I wonder what Dad and the kids were talking about. It's awfully hard to sit still and quiet at their ages.

  4. How old are your children? It will be interesting to see if they become fishermen. I hope they do, since your husband seems to like it. It will be a way for them to spend time together.

  5. Those are great pictures, looks like the kids are having fun. I always hated the worms-just couldn't put them on the hook. I also did not like touching the fish-I need mine cleaned and filleted!! It is a great way to spend time together and enjoy the outdoors.

  6. Great pictures. It will be interesting to see how the children respond when they have a fish on their hook. Some children get nervous when they see thier first fish flapping on the line. But they will eventually grow to love it as they watch their father (and mother) get excited and pleased for them as they gain experience and confidence. It is good that dad is willing to take them at such a young age. Some dads just are not that patient.
